The Journey
Have you ever taken a trip without a map, GPS or the help of road signs? I’m sure it was difficult to find your destination.
As Christians, our journey through life is guided by ”road signs” from the Lord. When we come to a crossroads, it is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to direct our path. We are inspired by reading the Bible, God’s Holy Word, which gives us the knowledge and the help to develop the wisdom needed to keep on this amazing journey.
If you would like to begin your journey to a Christ-centered life, please read the “road signs” listed below. If you would like to talk with us, please contact the church office at 662-234-3486. The steps you take are not an arrival but a fresh departure on life’s journey in service to the Lord.
ROAD SIGN #1: Becoming a Christian:
The first and most important step in your journey is to respond to the Holy Spirit’s calling. Know that God loves you. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Admit that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” When you admit you have sinned and sincerely ask God to forgive you, He will forgive you.
Believe. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Confess your sins. I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Publicly declare your decision through Baptism
This is a way of telling others that you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
ROAD SIGN #2: Personal Growth
Read the Bible. Psalm 19:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” The Bible is the story of God’s love. It contains history, love, guidance and wisdom. Bible reading is essential to your spiritual life.
Pray. Prayer is the privilege of direct communication with the Lord.
Attend church regularly. Bringing your family with you, worshipping and fellowshipping with a body of believers will strengthen your walk with the Lord. Your church family will provide support and encouragement.
ROAD SIGN #3: Practical Applications
Testimony: Share your story of how your journey began and your walk with the Lord.
Stewardship: God has blessed us with so much and we should acknowledge this in giving joyfully.
Gifts and Abilities: Get involved in church ministries and activities. Use your gifts and abilities in service to the Lord. There are many ways to serving: teaching a class, join the choir, join a committee or help with the various ministries.
